Resolved Question: How long should I take to acclimatize my betta fish? 4 Feb 2012, 8:55 am

There is a very large difference between the PH of the water the fish came in and the new water- about 0.8. I also tested the ammonia in his water which is very very high- at least 8.0ppm. So the problem is, I don’t want to leave him in his high ammonia water for long but I also don’t want to rush acclimatising him because of the large PH difference! What should I do? I’ve added a little bit of ammolock to his water but I don’t know how effective ammolock would be at that level of ammonia- What should I do?

Resolved Question: Is this s good combo of fish? and what’s wrong with my gouramis? 4 Feb 2012, 6:25 am

Hi, i am stocking up my 30 gallon tropical freshwater tank and so far, here is my idea:- 4 black mollies- 2 blue gouramis ( i already have these )- 6 black neon tetras ( i already have these too )- 4 german blue rams- 2 pineapple swordtailsIs this a good combination? Oh, and another question: My gouramis are always hiding in plants and decorations, and only coming out when my room is dark, and the light is off. (so at night usually) I’ve read nothing about blue gouramis being nocturnal, so i don’t really know why they are acting like this. please help! thanks.ps. My gouramis are not aggressive towards my neons, for some weird reason…. which is good!!!

Resolved Question: Fish sickness just… Disappeared? 4 Feb 2012, 5:46 am

Not that I’m complaining. But it’s weird. I was almost certain 3 of the ten fish I keep had itch, or something like it. I raised the temp by a degree each day to only graduate to the desiese “eliminating” requirement. Two day, and two degrees later, the spots all disappeared!!! They haven’t been back for days. None of my fish show signs of any repetition of symptoms or new occurring sickness! What happened?(no drugs/chemicals were used)

So I went to get a couple of feeder fishes for my turtle and I did te normal thing by letting the bag sit on top of the water for 15 min but when I let them out at first they were swimming along fine, but now they just sit at the bottom? Btw I just cleaned the water prior to putting them in , it’s a 20 gal long and my filter is brand new
