Catching Fish On A Lake Filled With Ice
Monday, December 19th, 2011If you are a sports lover and you are fond of trying various fishing activities, then you should give ice fishing a try. It might seem odd to be standing on top of a lake of ice trying to catch fish, but it is so much fun.
There are countries who have long winters and many individuals there do nothing else but wait for the melting of the ice. With this, they feel a great sense of boredom. One way to get through the long winters is to take up ice fishing.
Ice fishing is just as fun and stimulating as that of fishing in other seasons, though it is of course very cold. Ice fishing can really be great and totally exciting when the lakes are frozen with ice.
You can actually walk along the lakes with different fishing gear and other equipment when ice fishing.
What are you going to do?
Actually it is not that complicated. You just have to dig a hole in the ice with effort until you can find or see open water. You might want to make the whole a bit wider so that you can get the fish out of the water with ease.
Make sure you have the proper bait, which could either be a worm, a plastic lure or anything else that a fish might normally go after. Just remember that fishing is a game of patience.
There are indications that you will see if the fish has eaten the bait that you have for them. If there are no fish yet that has taken your bait, you can warm up by drinking some hot coco. Of course you cannot just sit there being cold waiting for the fish to take the bait. If there are indications that a certain fish has eaten your bait, then, that’s wonderful. You can have the fish that you have reeled in as your lunch or perhaps dinner.
Long winters are best paired with ice fishing to add more excitement. It is advisable that when you go for ice fishing, you bring all materials and fishing gadgets that you need. You need also to wear thick wool jackets to provide warmth in this very cold season when ice fishing.
